Blood Pressure
Checks

Free NHS blood pressure checks available in all of our pharmacies. A quick way to monitor your heart health and spot issues early.

High blood pressure doesn’t usually cause symptoms, but it can increase the risk of heart attacks, stroke, and kidney problems. A quick check at your local pharmacy can help catch it early — and it’s completely free through the NHS at participating branches.

What to Expect

We’ll use a simple arm cuff to check your blood pressure in a private consultation room. It’s quick, painless and takes less than 10 minutes.

Tip: Avoid caffeine, smoking, or exercise for 30 minutes before your check to get the most accurate reading.

Understanding Your Results

  • Normal: below 120/80 mmHg

  • Raised: 120–129/<80 mmHg

  • High (hypertension): 130/80 mmHg or higher

If your reading is high, we may offer a 24-hour monitor    (ABPM) to get a more accurate picture.

Who Should Get Checked?

Blood pressure checks are especially important if you:

  • Are aged 40 or over

  • Have a family history of high blood pressure

  • Are overweight or inactive

  • Eat a high-salt diet

  • Are pregnant (to check for signs of pre-eclampsia)
